Lost Hope (2024)

For mixed choir a cappella

Lost Hope was comissioned by Storkyrkans kammarkör in 2024.

The original poem was written by Nakahara Chuya, a Japanese poet that lived in and around the world wars. Being disowned by his parents and having lost his son, Nakaharas poems often deal with themes such as grief, hope and loss. This particular poem describes his own dreams as a child disappearing as he faces the struggles of reality. A theme that I think many people can relate to even today.
